To be in love, is a good thing, to be loved, is even better.
As women we desire intimacy. We are natural nurturers, naturally made to incubate. Made to help others, made to better the lives of our men. But have you sat down to ask yourself, if you are what you require?
You have this long list, of the kind of man you need, but does that kind of man, need you?.
Don't take offence here.
(I had to ask myself this question).
Understand that an honourable man needs an honourable woman. And a "wife is not the presence of a ring, but the presence of your character", Pastor John Gray.
Meaning you're a wife before you're married.
The familiar bible scripture women quote is Proverbs 31.
Let's break it down from verse 10;

" 10 A wife of noble character who can find? She is worth far more than rubies. 11 Her husband has full confidence in her and lacks nothing of value. 12 She brings him good, not harm all the days of her life. 13 She selects wool and flax and works with eager hands. 14  She is like the merchant ships, bringing her food from afar. 15 She gets up while it is still night; she provides food for her family and portions for her female servants. 16 She considers a field and buys it; out of her earnings, she plants a vineyard. (NIV)

What does it mean to be noble? It is having or showing fine personal qualities, or high moral principles. What is moral? It means to be concerned with the principles of right and wrong behaviour. This, kind of woman is worth more than rubies. The man she is with has full confidence in her because she is trustworthy. She looks out for him and guards him with prayer. She works with eager hands, therefore she cannot be lazy. While her family is asleep, she wakes up early and makes sure they are set for the day. This woman is organised. She has money to buy a field. This woman has her own. Let's look at verse 20:

20 She opens her hands to the poor and extends her hand to the needy. 21 When it snows, she has no fear for her household; for all of them are clothed in scarlet. Verse 23 says Her husband is respected at the city gate, where he takes his seat among the elders of the land.

This woman has compassion for people,  she is hospitable, she opens her home to those that need a place to rest. Her family are well taken care of, now get this, her husband takes his seat among the elders of the land. A Proverbs 31 woman has an honourable and respected man as a husband, not some random dude that roams the street. You must be selective with who you entertain in your life. I personally have let myself go at times and found myself with guys who are so not worth it. It's not every man who is worth your time, not everyday 'I'm just being nice'. Sometimes walk away and keep it moving. Don't even give some guys the chance to be in your space.

Protect your virtue.

Verse 26, She speaks with wisdom, and faithful instruction is on her tongue. 27 She watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness. 26 Her children arise and call her blessed; her husband also, and he praises her: 29 "Many women do noble things, but you surpass them all"

This woman is wise, the words that come from her lips carry wisdom, she uses her CSI skills to watch over her household, not to investigate on social media. She uses her time wisely because she has things to do. Her family gaze at her in wonder, ' What kind of woman is this? I've seen many different kinds, but you, you surpass them all'.

Verse 30 Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised. 31 Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring praise at the city gate (NIV)

Charm is surely deceptive, ask Delilah and beauty? Beauty fleets, ask Vashti. But a woman who knows her God, whose beauty is seen in her character, her temperament and in her respect to others, that woman, shall be praised. And not any kind of praise, she will be publicly honoured and used as a paragon in the midst of mankind.

Gone are the days where we have time to waste. Let us start by making the conscious decision to break the cycle. You deserve the best, in every aspect of your life. Let's not settle for half when we are worth the full sacrifice of Christ's blood.
So as we seek to be godly women, women who are worth the wait, if you're single and seeking Gods face for a partner, may he give you your hearts desire. May he cause an honourable man to walk into your life and prove that not all men are the same. If you are a married woman, may you continue to be a good spouse and help mate to your husband, may your goodness win your husband over and cause peace to reign in your union.
And if your choice is to remain single, may you also be an example to women. May you demonstrate good character, using your life to please God and achieving every good thing you have set out for yourself to do.
